In January 2015 the long-standing Orange Monkey Team re-branded and relaunched as OMX Pro Team, with our first major sponsors: Novus Holdings (then ‘Paarl Media’) and Silverback bikes. It was a huge step forward and set the tone for an exciting year…

Cape Epic
What a race! We kicked off the year with what remains the biggest result and highlight: Martin Gujan and Fabian Giger winning the prologue! It was an incredible day, and the race went on to be a great success for the riders and the team.

Pietermaritzburg Podium Blitz
Our success continued in South Africa with an amazing day at Cascades Park. In the HC event, Shlomi and Martin Gluth placed 1st and 2nd in the men’s race, and Isla, Marsike and Cherie finished 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the women’s race.

Team Spirit
After just a couple of weeks together at the start of the year the team had already formed an incredibly strong bond. We shared so many laughs and such a great spirit which has continued all year.

First World Cups
It was great to come back together as a team in Nove Mesto and Albstadt for the opening World Cups. Our mechanic, Lee, was working flat out to ensure that each rider had a perfectly-tuned bike to race. Building bikes and building trust.

Special Sponsors
The team remained with many of our long-term sponsors in 2015. SPIUK, Zipvit, Prologo, Schwalbe and Squirt, for example, all continue to be superb. However, a big change came with a new bike sponsor: Silverback. We couldn’t have asked for more; a real Superbike, backed by an ever-supportive company. This strong bond is set to last.

Lenzerheide
World Cup #3 was a week of highs and bone-breaking lows. Martin Gluth and Cherie posted best-ever results, with Cherie having a real breakthrough race in terms of slaying demons of self-doubt. On the other hand Mariske and Shlomi were out with injury and illness, and then Isla crashed in practice and broke her collarbone and fractured a vertebrae. It was an emotional rollercoaster of a race!

Tough year for Isla
Early season illness saw Isla miss the 1st World Cup and then struggle in the 2nd. She was back on form for Lenzerheide but that ended in hospital…twice! A hugely frustrating season. Ever-determined, Isla will be back fighting harder than ever in 2016. Mariske, too, has suffered more than her fair share of bad luck this year. Thankfully both girls are tougher than the blows that have beset them.

North America
A small contingent flew out to the North American World Cups, but thanks to some superb starts for the Martins, the rest of the team could see them on Red Bull TV and cheer from back home. World Cup coverage this year has been better than ever and watching the team on TV never ceases to be exciting!

World Championships
The 2015 World Championships in Andorra didn’t bring the results we had hoped for; it was just one of those days. That said, we were hugely proud to see four of our riders represented at the biggest race of the year. That’s worth a whip!

Passion and Pride
Through illness and injury, in winning and in overcoming obstacles, each of our riders has shown professionalism, passion and pride. Racing is a tough game of ups and downs, but together we have certainly had more laughs than frowns!

THANK YOU!
The season is well and truly over now and planning for 2016 is already well underway. We have seen a huge growth in our followers and friends over the past year, with social media fans and race-day smiley-faced fans at an all time high! Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey so far, and here’s to an even bigger and brighter future. #weareOMX
